DSP based electronics
The electronics (courtesy of VIDEOTON Holding Plc., Hungary) is a highly integrated unit. It is used for laser current and temperature control, modulation of the laser current, electrical amplification, temporal averaging and evaluation of the microphone signal. The PA signal, i.e. the part of the microphone signal that is generated by the laser absorption, is determined by using the so called digital lock-in detection technique. This PA signal is the amplitude of the Fourier component in the microphone signal at the frequency of laser modulation. The electronics also has auxiliary outputs and inputs for control and sensor signals, respectively. The electronics has high flexibility: it can be programmed to perform almost arbitrary measurement sequences.
